The Sickle Cell Center of Southern Louisiana was created in 1984 to improve the care and quality of life of people living with sickle cell disease in Southern Louisiana. Based at Tulane Lakeside Medical Office Building, the center provides comprehensive care and support for children and adults with sickle cell disease.
Sickle cell disease is a lifelong condition that can affect nearly every aspect of a person’s life. At the Sickle Cell Center, physicians, nurses, social workers, researchers and administrators work together to help patients manage their health, reduce complications and live fuller, healthier lives.
Care and services may include individualized pain management, education, exchange transfusion therapy, hydroxyurea therapy, bone marrow transplant support and psychosocial services.
